Magic amazes. Science seeks to explain, understand or reveal. Yet, in the classroom, the educators can use magic as an entry point for science explorations, building upon student enthusiasm for magic to teach science.

The activities listed here are meant to provide educators with ideas on ways to combine magic and science in the classroom. For more ideas, be sure to check the Library and Web Links areas in this section. Both include resources where you can find more activities and information about science ideas explored in the Magic exhibits as well as other ways to use magic to teach science.

Math Magic Activity
Students create and explore a Magic Jig-Saw Puzzle to learn about shapes and discover how math explains some magical illusions.

Magnet Magic Activity
Students create and test their own Magic Magnet to learn more about magnetism and its effects.

Mirror Magic Activity (coming soon)
Students try to draw a simple picture inside the Magic Mirror Box and learn how the brain and senses work together to interpret the world—or misinterpret during a magic show.
